One contractor, first call to final detail.
Hiring a general contractor means one company runs the whole job. Spade works out the scope with you, prices it, orders materials, schedules the crews and trades, and keeps the site moving until the last item is done.
On remodels and additions, plumbing and electrical scope is planned into the estimate from the start.

The work we take on
- Home additions and general construction when the house needs more room
- Kitchen remodeling, from new finishes to a reworked layout
- Bathroom and whole-home remodeling
- Concrete driveways, slabs and patios
- Tiny homes and sheds
- Patio covers and outdoor living spaces
- Barndominium and metal building finish-outs that turn a standing shell into usable space
- Home repairs, small or large
For finished work, see our projects, including Rosewood, 20131 Grove Street and The Jefferson’s Lake House.
La Vernia and the towns around it
Our crews travel from the La Vernia office to the towns below and the smaller communities between them.
We also work in Marion, New Berlin, Sutherland Springs, Poth, Universal City, Elmendorf, Nixon, Falls City and Pleasanton. The service areas page has the full picture.
From the first call to the walkthrough
- First call. You phone or send the form with the address, the work you have in mind and any photos, sketches or plans.
- A look at the property. We see the space, measure it and note anything that changes the approach, such as an uneven slab or tight access.
- Free estimate. The estimate sets out the scope and materials. Ask questions now; it is the easiest point to change things.
- Selections and permits. You settle finishes and give the go-ahead. Where a permit is needed, your project’s permit is applied for before work starts; our permits page explains who issues them.
- Materials purchased. Materials for your job are ordered; this is the point covered by our materials policy below.
- Construction. Site prep, the build and each trade in sequence, with any change talked through before it happens.
- Final walkthrough. Together we go room by room through the completed job and list any last items.
These steps carry no time frames on purpose. Job size, material lead times, permit review and weather all play a part, and they come up during your estimate.
What “no cancellations” means
No cancellations after materials have been purchased.
That line sits at the foot of every page on this site, and it means what it says: after the purchase, the job goes ahead.
The reason is simple: materials are bought for one job. Tile in the color you chose, cabinets in your sizes, lumber cut to your plan and rebar for your slab often can’t go back to the supplier or onto someone else’s house. The purchase is the point where both sides are committed.
So before you give the go-ahead, make sure the scope, selections and timing suit you, and ask when materials will be ordered so you know where that line falls.
Free estimates and office hours
Estimates are free. Call or use the estimate form below with your address and a short description of the work.
About Spade: common questions
What does it mean that Spade is a general contractor?
It means you deal with one company for the whole project instead of hiring and lining up separate crews yourself. Questions about any part of the job come to us, from the estimate through the final walkthrough.
Can I cancel after I approve the estimate?
Cancellation is not possible once materials for your project have been purchased. Ask when materials will be ordered so you know exactly when that point arrives.
Is there a charge for an estimate?
No. Estimates are free. Call (830) 475-2604 or send the form on this page with the project address and the work you have in mind.
Which towns does Spade work in?
We work from La Vernia across Wilson County and nearby parts of Bexar and Guadalupe counties, including Floresville, Seguin, St. Hedwig, Adkins, Stockdale, Schertz and Cibolo. Mention your address when you reach out so we can confirm it is covered.
