Spade Construction & Remodeling is a local company. The office sits on Forrest Road in La Vernia, and nearly every job we take is a short drive from it, somewhere in Wilson County, on the east side of Bexar County or in the southern half of Guadalupe County.
We’re here to help throughout the whole process, on projects from patching a damaged wall to framing a new wing. Before work begins, we go over the scope, the materials and the order of the work with you, so the estimate reads the way you expect.

BEFORE WORK STARTS
Permits in La Vernia and Wilson County
Start with the parcel: a lot inside a city answers to that city’s building office, and a rural tract answers to the county.
Inside La Vernia city limits
The City of La Vernia offers its permit applications online and at City Hall, 102 E. Chihuahua Street. The city’s packets count work that adds square footage, such as a covered patio, carport or sunroom, as an addition, and file wall moves, window replacements and major electrical, plumbing or mechanical changes under remodels. Bureau Veritas does the plan review and field inspections, and contractors register with the city each year.
Unincorporated Wilson County
Outside city limits, Wilson County requires permits for development, driveways and septic systems, handled by its Permitting and Development office in Floresville.
A home inside Seguin, Schertz, Cibolo or any other city follows that city’s own permit process. Your project’s permit is applied for before work starts. In La Vernia, inspections are required before framing, wiring and insulation are covered up.

Will my project need a permit?
That depends on the work and the location. Additions and remodels inside La Vernia go through a city permit, which Bureau Veritas reviews and inspects. On unincorporated Wilson County land, the county’s development, driveway and septic permits are what apply. Either way, your project’s permit is applied for before work starts.
